JEAN MUIR SILK AND COTTON

Jean Muir’s silk and cotton pieces reveal a quieter side of her design language, one rooted in fabric, movement and wearability. Working with natural fibres, Muir created dresses, tops, blouses and separates that feel effortless on the body, cut to drape rather than constrain, and designed to move with the wearer.

Silk, in particular, became a canvas for some of her most striking work, with many pieces featuring bold, abstract graphic prints that bring energy and individuality to otherwise pared-back silhouettes. Cotton offered a more relaxed, everyday sensibility, but still carried that same precision of cut and attention to detail.

Across both, the focus remains the same: thoughtful construction, refined detailing and a deep understanding of how clothes should feel as much as how they look.

These are pieces that sit easily within a modern wardrobe. Not costume, but clothing designed to be worn now, layered, styled and lived in, just as Muir intended.
