BETTY JACKSON

Betty Jackson is a British fashion designer known for her intelligent, wearable approach to design and her ability to balance softness with structure.

After studying at Birmingham College of Art, she began her career in the 1970s as an assistant to Wendy Dagworthy, before moving on to roles at Quorum and Coopers. She launched her own label in 1981, gaining recognition for collections grounded in movement, ease and real-life dressing rather than spectacle.

Her work is defined by fluid silhouettes, subtle tailoring and a restrained use of print and colour, often drawing on earlier eras without tipping into costume.

Awarded an MBE in 1987 and later a CBE for services to fashion, Betty Jackson remains one of Britain’s most quietly influential designers, with a legacy built on clothes designed to be worn.
