What I love about this 1970s Saint Laurent Rive Gauche jacket is how the cut holds its own against all that silver. The shoulders are sharply defined, the waist gently nips in and four glossy black buttons draw the eye down the front. Look closely and you can see irregular black lines running through the silver Lurex, giving the fabric texture as well as sparkle.
There’s a definite echo of Le Smoking, Yves Saint Laurent’s signature tuxedo, in the sharp lapels and the way the jacket frames the neckline. I’d play up that connection with a crisp white dress shirt and dark indigo jeans. For something sexier, I’d wear it open over a little black vest with leather trousers.
