If ever there were a handbag guaranteed to make people smile, this is it.
Designed by celebrated French accessories designer Marion Godart, whose joyful, maximalist creations helped define statement jewellery and accessories from the late 1980s onwards, this wonderfully exuberant floral handbag is pure wearable art. Godart became renowned for her bold use of colour and sculptural forms, drawing inspiration from Art Deco, Art Nouveau and vintage design, with an unmistakably playful aesthetic.
The entire exterior is covered in a riot of oversized silk-effect nylon roses in shades of scarlet, hot pink, blush and apricot, each finished with a delicate faux dew effect that gives the petals a fresh, glistening appearance. Wrapped satin top handles complete the design, while the vibrant red satin lining adds another unexpected burst of colour inside.
It’s gloriously over the top in the very best way. The sort of bag that transforms the simplest outfit, whether paired with an all-black dress for a wedding, linen separates on holiday, or jeans and a white shirt for an evening Aperol Spritz. It’s whimsical, unapologetically feminine and impossible not to notice.
The open-top design offers easy access to your essentials and the interior includes a useful slip pocket.
There is some wear to the wrapped handles and light signs of age consistent with use, while the floral appliqués remain wonderfully vibrant. Please study the photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
