Playful, elegant and unmistakably of its era, this striking clutch bag perfectly captures the joyful glamour that made Elspeth Gibson one of Britain’s most celebrated occasionwear designers during the early 2000s.
Crafted in vibrant turquoise suede, the front is lavishly embellished with hundreds of metallic floral sequins in varying sizes and finishes, creating a richly textured surface that catches the light from every angle. The reverse has been left beautifully simple, allowing the embellishment to take centre stage, while the matching suede wrist strap is intertwined with gold-tone metal for an understated finishing touch.
Inside, the bag is lined with pale blue grosgrain ribbon fabric and finished with the original Elspeth Gibson London label. Unused and still retaining its original swing tag, this piece was originally priced at £300 before being reduced in the boutique to £100.
Known for impeccably cut cocktail dresses and luxurious eveningwear in rich jewel tones, Elspeth Gibson brought the same sense of occasion to her accessories. This clutch is no exception. It feels playful without being overworked and elegant without trying too hard, making it just as suited to a wedding or summer party as it is to dinner with friends.
The bag remains in excellent unworn condition, with only light marks to the suede on the reverse from careful storage over the years.
